Fuel Passbook Leaded Fuel Passbooks Now Available The Circulation of the Leaded Fuel Passbooks issued to the National Association of Speedway Racing by Environment Australia has commenced. The Fuel Quality Standards Act (2000) has made the sale of fuel that is not in compliance with the Act an offence. Such fuels not in compliance with the act include Leaded fuels including AVGAS (any fuel containing more than 0.005 grams of lead per litre). These fuels are now restricted in their use to the public. A number of organisations have been provided with exemption to these restrictions including NASR, under the provisions of the Act. Leaded fuels may only now be purchased upon presentation of the Leaded Fuel Passbook, and the use of such fuels is controlled. To purchase leaded fuel, you must present the passbook to your fuel supplier who will complete the details in the Passbook. Leaded racing fuel may only be supplied to the holder of a Passbook where that fuel is supplied for the use at an event approved, sanctioned, or recognised by the organization that has been granted approval (ie NASR). Other restrictions also apply. The passbooks remain the property of Environment Australia and the Federal Department of the Environment and Heritage and expires 31st December 2008, at which time it is expected that the use of leaded fuels will no longer be permitted.
